Girolamo FRESCOBALDI (1583-1644)
Organist and Italian composer, Girolamo Frescobaldi published in 1635 his "Fiori musicali" then in 1637 "Il secondo libro di toccate canzone". Except for the period from 1628 to 1634 during which he was in Florence as organist to the court of Ferdinand de Medici, Girolamo Frescobaldi was organist in Saint St. Peter’s, Rome from 1608 until his death. It is said that at the start of his career in Rome, such was his reputation that 30 000 people turned up to listen to him play.
