Julián ARCAS (1832-1882)

Julián ArcasSpanish guitarist and composer. His career as a concert performer between 1860-70 took him all over Spain and the rest of Europe. In 1862, in Castellon, the young Francisco Tárrega was in the audience. After the performance, Tárrega’s father asked Arcas to listen to his son. He did so and invited him to become his pupil in Barcelona.
Julian Arcas composed about fifty original works and transcriptions for the guitar. The majority were published in Barcelona by Vidal y Roger.
