Oscar Cárdenas, classical guitar player and composer. Oscar Cárdenas was born 1966 in Chihuahua, Mexico. His music education began in his early childhood under the example of his father. His formal musical education started in 1987, when attending the Finr Arts Department of the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua, where he was student under the guidance of M. Cleofas Villegas. In 1989 he attended the México City's National College of Music (Conservatorio Nacional de Música) being assessed by guitarist Juan Carlos Chacón. Mr. Cárdenas has a degree by the National School of Music of UNAM. Currently is a guitar professor of the Universidad Iberoamericana, the Sciences and Chemistry Departments of the National University of Mexico.

In Chihuahua, Oscar Cárdenas has participated in several recitals as member of the UACH's Guitars Quartet. As soloist he has performed for Chihuahua's radio and television systems and in Colima, Morelos, Veracruz, Oaxaca and Michoacán States, as well in other forums in México City. He has been invited to perform with the La Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes , el Coro de Madrigalistas, el Coro de México, el Coro Solistas Ensamble de Bellas Artes y la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional.

Mr. Cárdenas has attended several special courses to perfect his guitar knowledge and skills under the guidance of: Iván Rijos, Alirio Díaz, Frank Bungarten, Marco Antonio Anguiano, Leo Brouwer, Guillermo González, Julio César Oliva. Mr. Cárdenas also has worked music of the renaissance with Josep Cabré. In 1995 attended and graduated a special program in Tijuana, B.C., where he was assessed by Javier Chamizo, Roberto Aussel, Eduardo Barrios and Roberto Limón. Besides Mr. Cárdenas attended courses on analysis and harmony with Jaime Uribe.

In year 1994 obtains second placed within the Guitar First Festival and National Contest in Guanajuato, Gto., México. In 1996, first placed in the National Contest of XXIII Guitar National Fair in Paracho, Mich., México, with a special mention offered by Julio Cesar Oliva to his musical works (OPUS) best performance.

Oscar Cárdenas has participated in the following recordings: 1996, "Navidad desde México" (Christmas from México) with tenor Ramón Vargas as member of the Orquesta Latinoamericana (Latin American Orchestra) conducted by Enrique Barrios; in 1998, as soloist, with vocal group "Voce in Tempore" conducted by Ana Patricia Carvajal; and in 2002, with original music for the put on of "Dream of a Summer Night" by William Shakespeare with the Clowns Workshop of the Universidad Iberoamericana. Soon Quindecim Recordings will produce Mr. Cárdenas first recording as soloist that will be including his own musical works.
