Thank you all for the feedback. I have done a lot of work on the performance of this piece and it goes a lot smoother now. I was actually asked to play it as the bridesmaid's march in a wedding recently. It went over very well indeed!
My original intention, when transcribing this piece, was to build my wedding repertoire a little. So, I condensed it down to what I felt were the most melodic and beautiful parts (but this is Beethoven...it's all beautiful!!). But the "triplets" section I thought was a little too "heavy" for the average wedding. I've since changed the ending to more closely resemble the original piano score while still bypassing the triplets section. It comes out pretty well. I wish I had the time to re-record it for you. I may try to do that in the near future.
Nogara, I appreciate your feedback, but I'm not sure exactly how I would develop the main theme any further. I'm really just a musical novice with no real education in music. My approach to transcribing somethig like this may be a little simple-minded. I just try to follow the piano score as closely as I can, making sure that all the correct chords are there while keeping the melody intact. I should take Thunder up on his offer to help me develop it further, but I created the score in Finale Notepad, which isn't very versatile at all (all I can really do is print the score).
I really think this could be a very, very nice piece for solo guitar in the right hands (both composing and performing). I don't know of any published transcription of this piece for guitar, but one probably does exist. I have dabbled with the "triplets" section of the piece and, believe it or not, it comes out pretty well on guitar. But man, there are a lot of crazy chords to contend with! It is definitely doable, but somewhat difficult to play.
